Today I started to prepare for my 1/6/13 watercolour batik workshop. What shall we paint? I have so many gorgeous subjects, maybe these sunny daffodils blooming in my garden (even without the sun!)......

Watercolour Mixed Media Workshop

I had a great time teaching a lovely group of ladies on Saturday. It was my watercolour mixed media workshop and this is my demo piece. I have had some amazing feedback from the attendees and am happy that they have all said they learnt some great techniques that will help them take their own work further. My next mixed media workshop will be on Saturday 4 May 2013.

Latest painting - acrylic on canvas

This is my latest painting, bouquet1, 15.5 x 15.5 inches, it is acrylic on canvas. I have been working in acrylic a fair bit lately and am loving the results. I am doing an art fair at the end of the month so am working towards that at the moment. I hope you like this one.

This is my latest watercolour, flora 8, 28x22cm. After the disaster of deleting my photos by accident, I now have to "stock" my blog up again with pictures! I hope you like it.

I have deleted all my photos by accident :-( Whilst creating something on Google+ I deleted an album of photos but did not realise they were linked here and there via Picassa! Most of the work I had posted here can be viewed on my facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Amanda.Spencer.Watercolours and more photos will appear shortly although sadly some older post will have to be deleted.

If anyone knows of a way to undelete the album please let me know!

Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours 2012 Exhibition

I am delighted that my painting Sentinels 2 has been selected for the RI 2012 Exhibition.

The Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours is one of the oldest societies of professional watercolour painters. The aims of the society are: to promote painting in watercolours; to encourage the use and development of water based mediums and to present the work of its best exponents in its annual exhibitions. The RI is based in London but its members come from all over the UK and beyond.

This is not our bicentennial year but the 200th exhibition held in London by the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours since the society's founding in 1831.

Watercolour batik

I have been working on some watercolour batiks, a process of building layers of wax and paint in order to make your painting. The painting is finally revealed when you remove the wax, I love the effect. Both of these pieces are 12 x 12cm. Hope you like them.

National Watercolor Society 91st Annual Exhibition

I am absolutely thrilled to have found out today that my watercolour "Covent Garden Sentinels 3" has been juried into the NWS 91st Annual Exhibition. To say I am happy is an understatement!

Society of Women Artists 150th Celebratory Exhibition 2011

I am very pleased to have found out that my painting Covent Garden Sentinels II has been selected to take part in this years SWA exhibition. The Society of Women Artists 150th Celebratory Exhibition, will take place at The Mall Galleries, London, SW1, from 30 June to 9 July 2011. The exhibition will be opened at the private view on 30 June 2011 by the Society's Patron HRH Princess Michael of Kent.
