I am very much aware that this blog has not received much attention from me lately and for that I apologise. 2014 was rather overshadowed by our move to Wales which took the whole of 2014 to happen what with 3 sale chains falling through and the stress created having a major effect on me. However, our move finally happened at the end of January and we are now living in beautiful rural Wales.
I have a lovely large studio here and will be able to offer opportunities for you to come and paint with me. I am also going back to Sweden in August and to France in September for workshops - please see my website for details.
Last year I had the opportunity of being trained by Golden Artist Colors and I am now a certified Golden Artist Educator. I am really enjoying experimenting with the array of Golden Mediums and luscious acrylic paint, it really is like being a kid in a sweetshop!
Over the next few months I shall be painting to my hearts content, getting ready for the annual Ceredigion Art Trail that takes place in August when my studio will be open to visitors. I will also endeavor to update this blog a little more often!
Here are a couple of my most recent available works, they are all minis at 8x8cm :
I have just returned from the beautiful Aquarelle Centre, Dalarna, Sweden after giving a very successful workshop. The centre and surroundings were perfect, situated in the middle of a pine forest and leading down to a crystal clear lake. Accommodation was comfortable and all food was delicious. A light and airy studio with lake views was the location of the workshop. My way of painting is, shall we say, a little different to traditional watercolour techniques and my workshops are challenging to begin with, however, I believe a challenge is important and the participants are always delighted with the progress made from day 1 to day 5 and I always feel so proud to have taught them - it never ceases to amaze me how I can help bring out the inner artist in my students! I thought I would share a few pictures with you from my time there. I will be returning to Dalarna in August 2015. For now, at the end of the month I am heading off to Norway again for some more workshop fun and then home for a workshop in Devon. See you soon! Ax
I am delighted to announce that I will be doing a workshop in beautiful Norway! 26-29 June 2014. Come and join me for some watercolour/mixed media fun! Bookings and information via their website http://www.sommerakademiet.com/
I am excited to announce my first workshop in Sweden! 4-8 June 2014 at the beautiful Akvarellcenter i Dalarna. Details will be added to their site shortly. For further information contact Maria Ginzburg via the website.
This is a recently finished landscape. I do not do many landscapes as I am not the best painter of buildings! However, I was recently challenged to paint some landscapes and I also posted a small landscape painting I did a couple of years ago which received some favourable feedback from my followers on facebook . So, I decided to come out of my comfort zone (florals/abstract) and have a go at some little landscapes using the techniques I use for my other paintings. I am quite pleased with the results and will certainly be doing a few more. I hope you like it.
Today I started to prepare for my 1/6/13 watercolour batik workshop. What shall we paint? I have so many gorgeous subjects, maybe these sunny daffodils blooming in my garden (even without the sun!)......
I had a great time teaching a lovely group of ladies on Saturday. It was my watercolour mixed media workshop and this is my demo piece. I have had some amazing feedback from the attendees and am happy that they have all said they learnt some great techniques that will help them take their own work further. My next mixed media workshop will be on Saturday 4 May 2013.
This is my latest painting, bouquet1, 15.5 x 15.5 inches, it is acrylic on canvas. I have been working in acrylic a fair bit lately and am loving the results. I am doing an art fair at the end of the month so am working towards that at the moment. I hope you like this one.
